Honeybee Gardens Lipstick

(Romance-Karma)

This is my first time trying the Honeybee Gardens lipstick's and it was a surprising experience. I have never really been much of a lipstick wearer because most lipstick's i tried made my lips dry almost instantly and I would spend days trying to recover them. I have read great reviews about this brand so I wanted to give them a go, choosing colours was the hardest part! I had seen swatches of the shade Karma so I definitely had to give this a go as I believe every girl should own a nice nude lip colour, and as tempted as I was to go for a barbie pink, I went for something a little more classic and wearable, Romance.
(Romance-Karma)

I'll start with Karma. Love it! The shade is perfect for my skin tone and has that nice hint of colour in it that makes it look oh so flattering and not at all washed out which is really hard to find. When I first tried applying Karma, it had a kind of waxy coating on it that made it really hard to get any colour onto my lips and it sort of gripped which tugged on my lips, so I found myself applying it to my hand quite a few times just to remove ithe coating. The texture is rather thick, thicker than the other shade, and quite pigmented so you don't need a whole lot but it you do need to smudge it in and blot, otherwise it appears patchy and looks really terrible. Another thing I found with this particular shade is that it works best if you don't put balm underneath. Perhaps it needs the dryness or something, but over balm it seperates and looks patchy also. I would suggest putting a tiny layer of balm over the top though as this Karma is a bit drying, nothing major, but enough to bother me. Apart from that I think Honeybee Gardens has done a great job with this shade.

Ingrediants: Karma
Canola oil, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) fruit, beeswax, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, tocopherol (vitamin E), origanum vulgare (oregano) leaf extract, thymus vulgaris (thyme) extract, cinnamomum zeylanicum (cinnamon) bark extract, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower extract, hydrastis canadensis (golden seal) root extract. May Contain: titanium dioxide, iron oxides, ultramarine blue, carmine, manganese violet.

Romance, a really nice pinkish red, has the best formula of any lipstick i've tried. This goes on incredibly smooth and gives the lips a sheer but pigmented colour hit, it also appears a tiny bit glossy, like you've added a layer of balm over the top which looks really refreshing. Romance isn'drying at all, bonus, and the colour is extremely wearable for any occasion. The best part about Romance, is that the colour is buildable, one layer gives of the same hint of colour that I get from, say, Burt's Bee's tinted lip balm, 2-3 layers for a more lipstick type shade.

  1. Does Romance have that kind of orange hint in person? Makes me want it!

  2. I've never personally noticed an orange tint to Romance so i'm going to say no. I think perhaps it could be the photo's themselves or the light. It's just a really nice red :) Have you seen the 2 new shades Honeybee Gardens are coming out with? I can't wait to try Aztec.

  3. Oh, I just picked this up at Whole Foods last week. I got Valentine color and I LOVE IT. It's so smooth and feels great on. I generally do not wear lipstick ... only lip gloss but this is perfect, light, moist and beautiful. Karen/ So Fla

    1. I just got a sample of Valentine, it is a really nice colour. I'm the same, not much of lipstick person, but since finding these natural ones, i'm starting to wear them more because they are so light and soft :)
