My love of Balms...

I have an absolute obsession with balm's, I can't stop buying these handy little tubs of goodness :)

The two most recent one's i've bought are Figs & Rouge Rambling Rose Balm and Balm Balm Rose Geranium Balm.

I LOVE the Figs & Rouge balm. It smells amazing, is 100% organic (certified by the Soil Association), and it makes my lips so soft. Plus the cute little tin is a bonus. I also use it on my knees and elbows and it is great. The only thing I don't like is the taste, but i'm fairly sure this balm isn't for consumption so that's no negative reflection of the product itself, and it shows that the product has no artificial flavourings/scents in it.

Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parki Fruit Butter, Cera Alba, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, *Citral, *Geraniol, *Linalool, *Citronellol, *Limonene (Organically Produced)
* (Naturally occurring component of essential oils)

Next is the Balm Balm...balm (hehe). I like this but it's not a favourite. It is a good balm but I find that it does get a little drying sometimes, especially on days I haven't drank enough water and it is also certified by the Soil Association. The rose geranium smell is really overpowering and actually started giving me a headache the first few times I smelt it but i think i'm used to it now, or the smell is fading. Another thing with this balm is the texture has become gritty. I don't know why or how but it has little solid bits in it and although they do melt down, it does take a bit. I wouldn't say this is a bad product but I personally woudn't buy it again.

Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Beeswax, Organic Aloe Vera & Organic Calendula Oil, Organic Rose Geranium Essential Oil.

  1. Thanks for the fig & rouge balm review!:) I like this kind of product review since it helps my buying decision alot!:) Oh,I thought fig & rouge is a"rouge"->red->red tinted. So it's just a muplty purpose balm instead.Somehow it'll be nice if they get it tinted, since the tin packaging is soo lovely!:)
I've been eyeing balm balm too, especially their cleansing oil.Glad you've reviewed this as well! The grit maybe caused by shea butter texture?it's from nuts family.
Anyway,do you use cleansing oil?I have sensitive dry skin so I use cleansing oil.I heard that Moogoo has cleansing oil series.Have you ever tried?

  2. You're very welcome.
I have only used coconut oil as an oil cleanser but I haven't actually purchased one as of yet, although I would like to try one soon. I'm actually really interested in trying a cleansing balm, especially the One Love Organics Skin Saviour Balm, because it is waterless and is basically just oils, but I cannot find anywhere that stocks them here.
I haven't tried anything but the eczema cream from Moogoo but i've heard their products are good.

  3. It happened to me solid bits in a balm, I also don't know why, but looking to the ingredients I would say that's due to beeswax, I guess. The weird think is that it didn't melt. I used it anyway.

Spiezia and Inlight both have a balm cleanser with no water. I never used one or another because my skin is oily, but both are 100% organic and certified by Soil Association. They must be good :)

  4. After I wrote this post my Figs & Rouge balm started doing it too, but I still use them as well. I have seen the Spiezia balm cleanser and was contemplating trying it, but I haven't heard of the Inlight brand, I might have to check them out.

  5. I guess they're both very similar, can't tell certainly but I think all the products are 100% organic. Sometimes I just wish to have dry skin, so I can use some products.

Maybe those solid bits appear in balms after they melt and solidify, I really don't have a clue. But I don't think it means bad quality or so.

  6. Yes, I was thinking it was something do do with them melting and then solidifying too, because it happened after a really hot day. They still do their job well so that is all that matters really :)
I'm glad I don't have oily skin but dry skin isn't great either.
